| Brothers... What do you prefer for obliques? Windsheild wipers or the "zakavelis" (where u hang at 90 degrees from the dip bars and move ur L-seated legs from side to side)? Do you guys have a preference? I feel like they work slightly different muscles... What do you guys think about em? |

| I like the l-seat turns better than windshield wipers. But even more so, I like rotating front lever pulls and side front levers where you do a front lever but your body is rotated 45 degrees. |

| Front lever pull is when you pull up to a front lever, even if you can't hold one, most people with adequate core strength to do a hanging leg raise can pull up to the front lever. Now do that at different angles to the side. That's what I meant, sorry I didn't clarify. |

| i prefer side leg raises for obliques. Not entirely from the side but a bit forward or backwards depending which part of the oblique you want to hit. The reason I prefer this is because it's contracting the muscles instead of something like a side front lever where it's really an isolation exercise for the midsection.
Hope this helps |

there are no "sides" to muscles. if u wanna hit the abs u hit the abs. not the upper abs, not the lower abs. theres no science in bicep building. the upper part the lower part. the same works for the obliques. either u hit the whole muscle or u dont. no "parts" of the obliques. and the isolation excercises work quite good for strenght.
btw mdrop, ever tried renegade rows? work quite nicely. |

My mistake, I thought if you did it forwards more it would work the external obliques and doing it backwards is more internal obliques (either way there is a different feeling between backwards and forwards, feels like a different muscle contraction entirely). I agree that isolation exercises are good for strength but I think you should include dynamic exercises as well. As for windshield wipers vs Zakavelis I prefer windshield wipers (slow and controlled!) cause I feel it more in my obliques, maybe I am doing the Zakavelis wrong. |

| Just a reply to the isolation exercise comment: Front lever works all the pulling muscles of the upper body and many many many stabilizer muscles that are working to keep everything in a straight line. It hits your midsection the hardest, but you'll feel it in your chest, shoulders, lower back, obviously the lats. |
