| Hello all, im new to these forums but been watching the barbarians vids on youtube for a long time. Now thing is, im 6ft and weight 132lbs. Im literally a twig. But I can do about 20 chinups and 12 pullups with proper form. I can also do an alternate arm muscle up and a tucked front lever. So i was wondering, how comes zef and jude and pretty much every barbarian has a perfect physique, and i have....nothing? |

| dekg i think u can get big with bar training but as Bdog said u must make eat much in order to take weight slowly. And yeah the weighted basics (pull ups push ups , dips )
Try to eat healthy food and workout on both pushing movements and pulling but also your legs and some more things to your core.
Your numbers in pull ups looks good to me but ur weight is low in my opinion. U are taller but too light in my opinion.
WELCOME to the community i hope u achieve ur goal.
Just to make u sure that u can get really big and strong with bar training watch this video(its LittleBeastM)

| Depends on what your definition of "big" is. |

Eh. Kinda. Look at the Bar-Barians. Zef, Jude, Rick, and everyone are pretty big. Gymnasts aren't exactly small either.
For the lower body, weighted work can be useful to create large legs. Endurance has its place, but so does strength. It's difficult to get a strong lower body without focusing on slow, strength moves like car pushes, weighted squats, deadlifts, etc. |

| Dude, average gymnast is around 140 lbs. I would hardly call that big. If you stood next to one of those guys at the supermarket and he was in a t-shirt, you wouldn't even know he worked out.
Zef is 155 lbs. at 5 foot 9. Again, not very big.
But, like I said, if that is big to you, then sure, you can get big. They did. But anything under 200 lbs. at an average height isn't "big" at all to me. |

The average gymnast isn't very tall or old either. Sure, I wouldn't ask whether a 12 year old at 5'6 whether he worked out. Gymnastics doesn't train for hypertrophy, but as the higher level skills are obtained, muscle mass is built regardless of calorie restriction.
Zef's upper body is big. The legs, not so much. That was my point, bodyweight can definitely build a good sized upper body, but the lower body would benefit from weighted work. |

From my knowledge (limited as it may be), I think you can build some decent sized legs as well (at least in proportion to upper body) without the use of conventional weight training as well. Glute Ham Raises and harder variations will destroy the underside of your legs, while plyometric pistols (if need be, weighted plyometric pistols) will definitely target your quads. I don't know if you were excluding weighted "bodyweight" exercises in your replies, but from my understanding (limited as it may be) I think you should be able to build proportionately strong legs as well.
If someone's looking for bodybuilding size, I'd think that weight lifting is probably easier, but in my mind that's not what being a barbarian is about. That's not the goal I'm pushing for, or better yet, the understanding and control of my body that I'm looking for. |

don't get annoyed bro - takes time.....just eat healthy high calorie meals - look in nutrition section: http://bar-barians.forumotions.com/t197-what-do-you-eat base your diet on this you'll get used to what to eat, how much, and when pretty soon.
before i started to train i was skinny too - but i was dedicated and trained hard, ate well too.
once you've got a good foundation (diet) then you can start training - remember to warm up properly and warm down too, do loads of the basics - then progressions.... |

| Skinny to strong and lean in 12 weeks. Total body transformation. Just eat hard train hard and get sleep. I take naps often too. Just listen to your body and feed the monster inside you.

There's a few things to think about as well...
Actually most guys on here aren't that big... they just LOOK big. This is due to being very lean which is all about diet. Zef is around 11st if I remember correctly.
Secondly, broad backs, built by doing shed loads of pull-ups, give the impression of being big (as it's comparative to your own body).
Thirdly, it will have taken a lot of time for the guys, zef/jude/lbm, to have gotten to the size they are. LBM has been doing this for around 2-3 years i think and has been absolutely commited to training pushing himself beyond his limits most of the time. The other guys have been training even longer still.
Keep at it and give it time you'll get there! |

| I think you need to pump up your diet as well! More proteins for you! That might do the trick. |
