| Anyone pick this book up? One of the best books on calisthenics I've ever read.
There's 10 progressions from zero to hero for six power moves: pushups, bridges, pull ups, handstand pushups, hanging leg raises, and squats to the master steps of each, one arm pushups, stand to stand bridges, one arm handstand pushups, one arm pullup, hanging leg raise (the hardest is the v-raise), and the pistol.
Author advocates less, more intense workout for better strength gains, which makes sense.
It's a very interesting and insightful book and I totally recommend it to anyone. And seeing most of the guys on these forums are able to do at least one of the master steps, it's a good read to look at your calisthenics accomplishments. |

| I have a feeling that most of you guys will be able to complete 2 of the master steps, probably hanging leg raises and either pistols or one arm pullups. The other three are extremely tough to do, the stand to stand bridge requires an unbelievable level of flexible and strength and the one arm handstand pushup blew my mind when I first saw it, not to mention the one arm pullup, which I'm trying to work on right now. Either way, if you want to become a superhuman in 1-3 years or sooner, grab this book and memorize it. |

| Today I managed to conquer the one arm pull up, only on my right arm though. I feel like my left side is lacking grip strength wise as I use my right hand for tennis and have been for about 11 years. It was probably the most awesome feeling I've ever had and I can't wait to feel it again on the left side. Uneven pull ups were extremely helpful, as were weighted pull ups. I expect my journey would be far easier than others because of my low weight of 144 pounds at a height of 5 9, but still, CC definitely helped me on my quest, substantially.
FYI, I figured out a sort of staggered approach to the one arm HSPU. Similar to training for the one arm pullup, kick up into a handstand on a wall (this would really only work for a wall due to the extreme balance and strength involved in holding a one arm handstand) and put something to grab onto, preferably a foot or two tall to your right or left depending on which side you want to work. So you grab that and you essentially have a sort of uneven pushup, handstand style. Bend down as far as you can with your one arm for the pushup and if you need any assistance, pull or push up with the other arm, gradually you can increase the height until you're support arm is at your side.

Strict form? The CC one arm pushup is essentially a very strict regular pushup minus an arm. It's technically perfect, legs together, waist not skewed out in a weird positions. I was very impressed when I saw that as the master step. Skewed one arm pushups have been no problem in the past, legs apart and my waist skewed due to lack of strength or balance, but that strict form one arm pushup looks superb and the progression leads to it perfectly. |
